Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led an important meeting of the Apex Committee today in Islamabad, attended by federal ministers, provincial chief ministers, and top military leadership.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan faces significant challenges and threats on multiple fronts, including conventional security threats and digital warfare. He expressed concern over the rising incidents of armed terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, alongside the growing menace of digital and social media conspiracies.
Prime Minister Sharif highlighted that a narrative is being crafted on social and digital platforms to tarnish Pakistan's global image. He stressed the importance of countering these threats decisively, directing relevant authorities to take strict and conclusive action against both digital propaganda and armed militants.
“The time has come to eradicate the menace of extremism and terrorism from its roots,” Prime Minister Sharif stated firmly, adding that national unity and determination are essential to overcome these challenges.
During the meeting, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, along with other provincial leaders, unanimously supported the proposed decisive measures against terrorism and digital conspiracies. The committee resolved to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and ensure the country’s positive image on the global stage.
The Apex Committee reiterated its commitment to national security, with a pledge to deploy all necessary resources to combat both physical and digital threats effectively.
